Choice Choice is a powerful word. It shapes our lives in many ways that we don't even realise. Every day we are presented with choices that help to lay the foundation of what we are to become in the future and what we are able to accomplish in our lives. Each and everyone of us are all privileged to be able to us this ability, choice is powerful.
Every split second, we are presented with an infinite amount of possibilities that could effect the progress of our day. It could be from the simplest of choices from picking what Lunch to have, to the more serious matters of deciding what career path you want to pursue. Life gives us these choices to make, some simple and some hard, but we can't take them for granted.
In some cases all around the world people like you and me may never get the chance to live a life like ours, I find that I use this to motivate myself in my work. There are people that are not as lucky as me, there are people out there that never got given that choice in the first place, I feel this is what motivates me. The saying "It could be worse" is a very good motivator if you think about it. If I hadn't been presented with that choice I may been in a worse position in my life.
With choice it can be controlled, a lot of people believe that it can't which is understandable, but ultimately choice is what you are able to wield. You are the one that can decide to take the long route home for work, you are the one that can decide to go drinking on a weekend, you are the one that decide to chance your dreams yours ambitions or not.
There is the past, the present and the future. I like to believe that I live in the now, the present, live in the moment and not worry about what has come and gone but focus on what is happening now. Unfortunately we all have to think about the future one way or another, this is inevitable. The question that I have been asked time to time is "where do you see your self in 10 years?" I have never been able to answer this question truthfully. Weather it is because of my live in the now mindset or that I can't make my mind up, I don't know. It has always puzzled me and frustrates me.
Steve job once saids you can go around with the notion that life is just there and we are going to just live in it vs embracing it changing it improving it make your mark upon it, once you realise this the possibilities are endless. I think that comes very close to how choices are presented in our lives. We are all lucky to get given a choice that may shape our lives in the future, take control of those choices and make them your own.
